One of the largest rooftop
solar arrays in North America

The Riverside Renewable Energy Solar Array sits on top of the Gloucester Marine Terminal in Gloucester City, NJ. With 33,500 solar panels in place, it eliminates 16 million pounds of CO2 a year, removes 1,300 cars from the road, and generates enough power for 1,500 homes!

Electrification

  • Retrofitted 4 Post Panamax cranes from diesel to electric
  • Invested in 5 new electric super Post Panamax Cranes
  • Renovated an old wharf – converting 3,000 linear feet of electrified terminal shipping berths
  • Transitioned forklift fleet from diesel/propane to battery/electric, with over 270 electric forklifts now in operation
  • Installed electro-perm magnets on cranes, implementing hydrogen forklifts and evaluating nitrogen-operating models

Wind Energy Support

Holt is engaged in advancing clean energy initiatives through collaboration with offshore wind developers at the Paulsboro Marine Terminal located in Paulsboro, New Jersey. The pivotal role of these offshore wind developers in manufacturing all monopiles further solidifies our contribution to the clean energy sector. This facility is poised to become the largest offshore wind manufacturing hub in the United States. The production is set to generate over 1.5 GW of clean energy annually, enough to power up to 500,000 homes.

Improved Recycling and Waste Management

All facilities take part in an extensive recycling program to manage the waste and discarded packaging that is generated from operations. Over 95% of waste generated by these operations is recycled. Excess food is donated to the local community and food banks or sent to biodegradable energy providers.

Hydrogen Fuel Cell Forklifts

Warehouses are taking proactive steps to minimize electric and propane usage by transitioning to over 75 hydrogen fuel cell-powered forklifts.
